Gilles Tautin, 21st November 1950 - 10th June 1968, was a ‘lycéen’ who studied at the Lycée Stéphane-Mallarmé in Paris. He was also a militant maoïste of the Mouvement de soutien aux luttes du peuple and membre de l’Union des jeunesses communistes marxistes-léninistes (Anon, 2008). Their role was to go "porte-à-porte" to explain the changes to the university that they wanted to put in place, for instance, making universities available to more than 50% of the workers and peasants. This would then have allowed them to take on studies that they want to whilst having the ability to go to work. The goals of this group were to raise awareness of the university development plans that they want to put forward and to encourage them to support the movement. The document that informs us of the changes they wanted at the time are found here (Biffbang, 2016). Doctors concluded that he died by drowning and that no traces of violence had been revealed on his body.
